Tactical/Scout Swimmer Course

This course is for Tactical Officers, ERT and Military personal to be able to do Waterborne Operations on large bodies of water, including inland lakes that are in there operational area. Learn to utilize the water environment for tactical purposes such as surveillance operations, sniper deployment, reconnaissance, assault from the water. To be able to use areas that were formally unthought-of, do to it being un- accessible. This adds another tactical tool in the operational tool box for any special team. The student must be above average swimmer. The course is mentally and physically demanding. However it will teach the candidate that the aquatic environment is an unforgiving one and with proper training and equipment, confidence and comfort can be achieved in this tough environment.

Each candidate must pass a water safety and swim test in the beginning to continue on with the course.

Outline:

Pool swim test: Timed 500 meter swim with fins, mask and swim vest. Tread water in BDU’s and combat boots for 10 minutes, 100 meter buddy tow. 100 meter swim in BDU’s. Accidental emersion in a weighted vest and escape, general water proofing/survival skills. Swimming and fining techniques are taught with and without ERT/SWAT gear.

Understanding hazards in an aquatic environment.
Tactical swimmer approaches
Infiltration and withdraw stealth fully, possibly with kayaks.
Dock approaches, climbing and movement.
Stealth entry
Swimmer casting –brief.
Swimmer casts- practical from Zodic type boat
Side casts.
Breach approaches.
Team movement drills on the beach.
Setting up a OP
Operational planning for Maritime/Aquatic environments.
Operational Scenario test.
Vessel boarding Low and high free board. (Theory)
Shipboard CQB (Theory)

Gear and equipment: All students must bring their own waterborne gear.

Mask and snorkel
Fins, that have big pockets to fit boots.
Tactical Swimmer vest, with CO2 inflation.
BDU’s
Cold water wet suit or tactical dry suit. Black or Camo.
Gloves that can keep your hands warm in the water but can be use with weapons etc.
Weapons, blue or red guns. We can help in this area.
Tactical vest or chest rig.
Holster with flap to secure weapon.
Waterborne helmet.
Boonie hat.
Your issue gear that would be use.
